WELCOME TO THE WEBSITE OF THE CANADIAN AND PAN AMERICAN koshiki karatedo association-EAST

WHO WE ARE?

The Association is a non-profit organization whose objective is to promote Koshiki karate in Canada and America. Koshiki karate is a competition system that brings together several fighting styles in order to practice and compete in a safe environment. The association is the only Canadian Koshiki karate organization with a direct link to Japan. It is sanctioned by the WKKF (World Koshiki Karatedo Federation).

NEARLY 300 MEMBERS!

We currently have nearly 300 members in Quebec in 5 schools in the Greater Montreal area. You can communicate directly with the instructors if you wish to have more information or participate in a trial lesson.

THE KOSHIKI SYSTEM

The Koshiki competition system has two components: kata and combat (shiai)

In kata, participants are scored according to a list of 10 pre-established criteria. A score up to of 5 is given for each of them according to their mastery.

In combat, we use equipment comprising a helmet with a polycarbonate visor and a chest guard that allow us to use full-power strikes while limiting the risk of injury.

OUR TOURNAMENTS

In competition, participants can use various techniques such as: punching, kicking, elbowing, knees. Swipes and throws are also permitted on padded surfaces. The winner is the one who will have accumulated the most points (waza-ri) at the end of the fight or who will have scored a full point (ippon) according to the criteria established by the regulations.

Our mission

  • Work in collaboration with our member schools to support them and provide them with the tools necessary for their development.
  • Ensure communication within the federation itself, but also with external organisations.
  • Organize quality events aimed at the improvement of each student who participates.
  • Keep a close link with the Japanese headquarters of the W.K.K.F in order to guarantee the development of its member karatekas.
